Sediment Dispersant

Description :

Nova Sediment Dispersant is a high molecular weight polymer in liquid form.




Product Uses :

Nova sediment dispersant is a polymer formulated to reduce settlement and Compaction of mud and silt present in ballast waters after any ballasting operation. Under certain conditions nova sediment dispersant will soften existing deposits and ease their removal. Prevention and reduction of heavy silt deposits allows more cargo to. Be carried. The resulting increase in revenue can more than pay for the cost of chemical treatment.

Application :

To prevent progressive silt build up, it is strongly recommended that nova sediment dispersant be used on a regular basis. Nova sediment dispersant should be applied to the ballast water during the ballasting operation. The required amount of chemicals should be added before the tank in more than one third full to ensure good mixing. The preferred method of addition is by metering pump or flow water directly to the ballast water flow. If this is not possible the required quantity of chemical may be slug dosed via a manhole into an area of turbulence to ensure good mixing.

Dosage and Control :

Experimental and practical evaluations have shown that in regular use the optimum product dosage lies in the range of 40 ppm to 80 ppm.

Silt deposits will vary depending on where ballasting has taken place and this could have an effect on the quantity of nova sediment dispersant required. In the case of previously untreated tanks if existing deposits are light one normal application of Nova sediment dispersant should prove sufficient for effective clean up. Where existing deposits are heavy two or more normal applications may be necessary before an improvement becomes apparent.


Nova sediment dispersant, though not a hazardous treatment, is mildly alkaline & may cause skin irritation on prolonged contact. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin.
