DESCRIPTION :

NOVACHLOR is extremely efficient to remove red and/or yellow dye discoloration/stains in cargo tanks in Tankers caused by carriage of dyed gasoline cargoes NOVACHLOR is a our cargo hold cleaning chemical complying with Marpol Annex V and is not harmful to the marine environment. Normally the Cargo Hold are huge and require a Large quantity of Cleaning chemicals for cleaning the Holds.

Cargo contamination problems Whatever the previous cargo, all holds should be swept clean, and loose scale and rust removed. When reloading the same cargo commodity, there is a tendency to leave the holds unswept. In general terms, this is not good practice since the residual cargo can hide damage to the hold or tank top. Traces of previous cargoes, such as sulphur, sulphur traces in coal cargoes and some fertiliser cargoes may corrode bare steel plate.

It is recommended that holds are swept clean after every cargo and the residues removed or, if reloading the same cargo type, placed to one side so that a tank top and hold inspection can be carried out. Large amounts of cargo remaining onboard may not only cause outturn problems, but hide damage to the tank top plate.

The level of cleanliness of the hold required will vary from port to port, and shipper to shipper. As a general rule, In order to avoid delays or off-hire of the ship, hold cleaning requires proper planning.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE/APPLICATIONS & DOSAGE RATES :

Removal of Dye discoloration in Cargo Tanks
1. Make a 2% solution in seawater in one of the slop tanks. Usually 2% solution is sufficient.
Suggested water quantity: 30 – 50 tons depending upon ship size
2. Re-circulate this solution in 3 cargo tanks over 6 hours. 1 solution is usually sufficient for 3 tanks
3. Rinse the tanks with either seawater or freshwater depending upon the next cargo.
